Since the past two years, one had to go to Anand Vihar ISBT to catch a bus to Dehradun from New Delhi. This was because the main ISBT at Kashmere Gate was undergoing a major renovation. Now that is complete and from today all 500 buses on the Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh route will ply from the newly renovated ISBT at Kashmere Gate.
It has been well worth the wait because now commuters can enjoy much better amenities. The renovated ISBT has an airport like feel with an air conditioned waiting lounge, a food court, glass elevator and escalators.
Dehradun students studying in Delhi University North Campus are the happiest about this. Says Sonakshi, a student of Hansraj College, “Now I don’t have to think twice about coming to Dehradun whenever there is a long weekend. It is very easy to catch a bus to Dehradun from Kashmere Gate as it is very close to our hostel. All Doon students studying in Delhi are very happy about this!”
