Keeping up with the e-commercialization of services, The Uttarakhand Transport Corporation (UTC) has started online bookings for its bus services from 20th May 2013. It is great step by UTC to provide world class conveniences to bus commuters in the state. The State Transport Minister Mr. Surendra Rakesh inaugurated the online booking service by purchasing the first ticket himself.
The service will take a while to be fully functional. In the first phase, only Volvo bus tickets will be booked online. In the second phase, AC and ordinary bus tickets will also be available online.
Understandably, there will be a number of teething problems but soon commuters will have the convenience of booking tickets without leaving their homes. The online ticketing portal provides information about timings of all buses on a particular route as well as seat availability. One month advance online booking is available for Volvo service. The online reservation system will also prove to be a boon for those living in other states. No doubt, the move will ultimately lead to increased revenue for the state.
The Volvo bus service from Dehradun is available at the following routes presently: Dehradun-Delhi, Dehradun-Gurgaon-Delhi, Dehradun-Jammu Katra. To book tickets online go to www.utconline.uk.gov.in
