Taking a cue from Delhi where last week auto and taxi fares were revised, public and commercial transport facilities in Dehradun too have been hiked up by 20% to 40% with immediate effect. The hike includes City Bus Service, Private Taxis, Autos, Vikram and Maxi Cab. The Transport Minister, Mr. Surendra Rakesh has cited the increase in fuel, insurance and other prices a reason for the hike. The minimum fare of City Bus will now be Rs 5 and a maximum of Rs 20 will be charged till the outermost point. The Auto Fares have been officially declared at Rs 8 per km (minimum chargeable fare being Rs 20). After 10 pm 25% extra will be charged. Our Doon Autowallas are a law unto themselves and the meter system is unheard of here. Still, for public knowledge, Rs 8 per km is the official rate. See table below for all the revised rates.
