There is good news for heart patients in Doon. Now they can get economical and state of the art treatment for all heart ailments in their own city- Dehradun.

The Fortis Hospital’s Cardiac Unit in Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Hospital , more popularly known as the Coronation Hospital is the first comprehensive cardiac care facility in Dehradun. From 30th April 2012, this unit will start providing surgical treatment to heart patients of the city. Facilities like By-pass Surgery, Pace Maker, Ballooning and all other modern heart procedures will be offered to the patients. Currently, Cardiac Cath Lab is already equipped and fully functional.

The important point to note is that this unit will provide heart treatments and cardiac surgery at a comparatively low price than all other private hospitals of the city. Uttarakhand Government has handed over the responsibility to set up a cardiac centre at Dehradun to Fortis Healthcare under Public Private Partnership (PPP) model at an investment of Rs 10 crore. The charges for OPD, IPD, and OT etc. have already been decided under MOU.

The OPD was started by this unit two months back. From Monday to Saturday up to 2 p.m. OPD charges are Nil; however patients just have to fill a hospital form worth Rs. 12. After 2 p.m. OPD charges are Rs. 300 which is valid up to 3 visits.

Since there were no good cardiac facilities in Dehradun earlier, the heart patients had to rush to metropolitan cities for quality treatment. But with the inauguration of this Cardiac unit they can now avail all such facilities in their own city.
