Thanks to the rising inflation, basic amenities in Doon are getting more expensive by the day. Now, even enjoying Dehradun’s natural beauty has become costlier.
The picturesque landscapes, verdant greenery and rare & unique species of fauna in Dehradun have always been a centre of attraction for tourists since ages. But now rising inflation has hit these picnic spots as well and spending time amidst nature’s beauty has become all the more expensive.
The entry fee for Malsi Deer Park- a beautifully developed mini-zoological park and Lachhiwala- an extremely popular picnic spot of Doon has been doubled. The hike in entry fee and parking charges has been effective from 3rd April 2012.
The proposal to increase the tariffs of hot tourist destinations in Doon was sent by Prabhagiya Van Adhikari, Dehradun which was subsequently approved by Van Sangrakshak Shivalik Vrit.
According to DFO Meenakshi Joshi, the decision to increase the tariff has been implemented after a thorough discussion on significant points associated with this matter.
Both Malsi Deer Park and Lachhiwala are hot tourist spots in Dehradun which attract a large number of visitors during the peak season. The increased tariffs might just affect the number of holidaymakers visiting these spots this season. Let us hope that the administration uses the increased revenue to maintain these places better and increase the quantity and quality of amenities available to the visitors.
