Virasat 2015: A kaleidoscope of Indian Arts and Heritage

The 21st Virasat, Arts and Heritage festival will be held in Dehradun from the 29th November to 13th December this year. This much loved festival brings the best of world and Indian culture to Dehradun and is eagerly awaited by Doonites each year. Well known performers like Jagjit Singh, Ghulam Ali, Wadali Brothers, Hariharan, Kailash Kher, Hans Raj Hans have performed here in the past. As always it will be held at the BR Ambedkar Stadium on Kaulagarh Road.

This year also Doonites can look forward to performances by renowned dancers, singers, authors and poets. There will be more than 300 stalls exhibiting handicrafts, handmade accessories, wood work, leather goods and fabric items from all parts of India. There will also be food stalls selling popular street food as well as regional delicacies from various parts of India. The Festival is a great crowd puller and a must visit for Doonites. There is something for each taste, be it the crafts bazaar, concerts, children's programmes, cuisines or the art and craft workshops. Since it is organized in Dehradun, it gives an opportunity to Uttarakhand’s dance, music, art and heritage to reach a large audience. It not only gives the performer a stage to exhibit their art but also helps them preserve the dying culture.The highlights this year are:-
